Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.13%

3th percentile - higher than 3% of all known CVEs

Summary

DD-WRT firmware deployed on TP-Link TL-WR740N v1 through v4 hardware stores sensitive authentication credentials in cleartext within non-volatile memory. Exposed material includes SSH private keys, dynamic DNS passwords, email notification credentials, and administrative passwords, which can be extracted from an SPI flash dump with physical access to the device.

Risk Assessment

Exposure of these credentials leads to device compromise, infiltration of the connected network, and unauthorized access to dependent third-party services. The risk is high for devices physically accessible to third parties.

Recommendation

Restrict physical access to the devices and consider replacing hardware with a model supporting secure credential storage. If physical access is suspected, rotate all exposed credentials, including SSH keys and third-party service passwords.
