CVE-2025-54303

Critical
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The Thermo Fisher Torrent Suite Django application 5.18.1 has weak default credentials stored as fixtures for the Django ORM API. The ionadmin user account can authenticate to default deployments with the password ionadmin. The user guide recommends changing default credentials, but a password change policy for default administrative accounts is not enforced.

Risk Assessment

Many deployments may retain default credentials, allowing an attacker to authenticate with administrative privileges. This could lead to full system compromise.

Recommendation

Immediately change default passwords for all administrative accounts, including ionadmin, and enforce a policy for regular password changes. Also audit existing installations for use of default credentials.

Many deployments may retain default credentials, in which case an attacker is likely to be able to successfully authenticate with administrative privileges.
