CVE-2025-52054
MediumCVSS 5.3Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk22th percentile - higher than 22% of all known CVEs
Summary
In the Tenda AC8 v4.0 AC1200 Dual-band Gigabit Wireless Router with firmware 16.03.33.05, the root password is calculated from a static string and the last two octets of the device MAC address. This allows an unauthenticated attacker to authenticate with network services on the device.
Risk Assessment
An attacker can predict the root password and access network services on the device, potentially leading to full compromise of the router and the network behind it.
Recommendation
Update the Tenda AC8 firmware to a version without the vulnerability or, if not possible, restrict access to management services and replace the device with a more secure one.
