Summary
CodeChecker, an analyzer tooling, contains a buffer overflow vulnerability in the internal ldlogger library, which is executed by the CodeChecker log command. This affects versions up to 6.26.1.
Risk Assessment
Buffer overflow can lead to arbitrary code execution, system crashes, or privilege escalation, posing a serious threat to environments using CodeChecker.
Recommendation
Update CodeChecker to a version newer than 6.26.1 that includes the fix. Restrict access to the 'log' command and monitor systems for anomalies.

CodeChecker's massStoreRun processing path performs one-shot decompression of attacker-controlled, Base64-encoded zlib data without enforcing a maximum decompressed size. An authenticated user with permission to store analysis runs can submit a highly compressed payload that expands to a significantly larger byte sequence. Because the entire decompressed output is materialized in memory before being written to a temporary file, a sufficiently large payload may exhaust process or host memory and consume substantial disk space, resulting in denial of service.
- CVE-2026-58106Low
In CodeChecker through 6.28.2, there is a flaw in ldlogger-tool-gcc.c:129 where the safe_strcpy() helper (which is strncpy()) writes 4096 bytes into a buffer of 4094 bytes, causing a 2-byte stack overflow on every invocation, independent of the input path's length. The fix for CVE-2025-40843 replaced unchecked strcpy() with a bounded safe_strcpy(), but the size passed was incorrect.
Original NVD description (English source)
CodeChecker is an analyzer tooling, defect database and viewer extension for the Clang Static Analyzer and Clang Tidy. CodeChecker versions up to 6.26.1 contain a buffer overflow vulnerability in the internal ldlogger library, which is executed by the CodeChecker log command. This issue affects CodeChecker: through 6.26.1.
