Summary

In the lan743x network driver for PCI1xxxx devices, EEPROM and OTP sizes have been fixed. Maximum OTP size is 8 Kb and EEPROM 64 Kb. Size definitions and returned EEPROM length are adjusted per device, preventing out-of-bounds read/write.

Risk Assessment

The organization may be exposed to out-of-bounds read or write in EEPROM/OTP memory, potentially leading to data corruption or unpredictable behavior of the network device.

Recommendation

It is recommended to update the Linux kernel to a version containing this fix to ensure proper operation of PCI1xxxx network devices.
