Summary

Improper handling of values in some Intel processors at Ring 0 (kernel, hypervisor, bare metal OS) may allow privilege escalation. An authorized adversary with a privileged user and a high complexity attack can escalate privileges via local access with special internal knowledge and no user interaction. The vulnerability may impact confidentiality and integrity but not availability.

Risk Assessment

Risk of privilege escalation in environments with Intel processors, potentially leading to confidentiality and integrity breaches. However, the attack requires privileged access and complex conditions, limiting exploitability.

Recommendation

Apply microcode or firmware updates provided by Intel. Monitor Intel security advisories and deploy patches on systems with affected processors.

Original NVD description (English source)

Improper handling of values for some Intel(R) Processors within Ring 0: Kernel, Hypervisor and Bare Metal OS may allow an escalation of privilege. Authorized adversary with a privileged user combined with a high complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are present with special internal knowledge and require no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (low), integrity (low) and availability (none) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (none) impacts.
