12th percentile - higher than 12% of all known CVEs

Summary

Intel(R) CIP software before WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 allows unrestricted upload of dangerous file types in Ring 3 (user applications). This may enable privilege escalation by an unprivileged user with privileged access in a complex attack. Integrity impact is low; confidentiality and availability are not affected.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with user privileges could modify data or files, potentially leading to privilege escalation. However, this requires specialized knowledge and user interaction.

Recommendation

Update Intel(R) CIP to version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 or later. Restrict file upload capabilities for unprivileged users.

Original NVD description (English source)

Unrestricted upload of file with dangerous type for some Intel(R) CIP software before version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. Unprivileged software adversary with a privileged user combined with a high complexity attack may enable data manipulation. This result may potentially occur via network access when attack requirements are present with special internal knowledge and requires passive user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (none), integrity (low) and availability (none) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.
