CVE-2025-24848
MediumCVSS 6.3Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk2th percentile - higher than 2% of all known CVEs
Summary
Protection mechanism failure in Intel(R) CIP software before version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. A privileged authenticated user with a high-complexity attack can escalate privileges via local access, requiring passive user interaction.
Risk Assessment
This can lead to privilege escalation, potentially compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability. It requires a privileged user and high attack complexity, but the impact can be severe.
Recommendation
Update Intel(R) CIP to version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 or later. Restrict user privileges and monitor local activity.
Other vulnerabilities in Intel(R) CIP software
See all- CVE-2025-24838High
Improper privilege management for some Intel(R) CIP software before version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. An unprivileged software adversary with an authenticated user combined with a low complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege.
- CVE-2025-20614Medium
External control of file name or path in some Intel(R) CIP software before version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. An unprivileged software adversary with a privileged user combined with a low complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege via local access when attack requirements are present, without user interaction.
- CVE-2025-20050Medium
Uncontrolled search path in some Intel(R) CIP software before version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. An unprivileged software adversary with an authenticated user combined with a high complexity attack may enable local code execution via local access when attack requirements are present, requiring active user interaction.
Original NVD description (English source)
Protection mechanism failure for some Intel(R) CIP software before version WIN_DCA_2.4.0.11001 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. Unprivileged software adversary with a privileged user combined with a high complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are present without special internal knowledge and requires passive user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.
