Summary

The WP Dropzone plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'callback' shortcode attribute in versions up to and including 1.1.1. Insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes allow evaluation as JavaScript via `new Function()`. Authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or above can inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user accesses an injected page.

Risk Assessment

Risk of user session hijacking, data theft, or malware distribution on WordPress pages. The attack can affect all visitors of compromised pages.

Recommendation

Update the WP Dropzone plugin to the latest version if available. Additionally, restrict content editing access to trusted users and consider using a Web Application Firewall (WAF).

Original NVD description (English source)

The WP Dropzone plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'callback' shortcode attribute in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.1. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied 'callback' attributes, which are evaluated as JavaScript code via the `new Function()` constructor. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
