Summary

The Trail Manager plugin for WordPress, in all versions up to and including 1.0.0, is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via admin settings due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This only affects multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled.

Risk Assessment

The risk includes execution of malicious scripts in the user's browser, potentially leading to session theft, account takeover, or spreading malicious content, but only in specific configurations (multi-site or with unfiltered_html disabled).

Recommendation

Update the Trail Manager plugin to a version newer than 1.0.0 and implement proper sanitization and escaping of admin settings data.
