Summary

The Simple post listing plugin for WordPress up to version 0.2 contains a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the 'class_name' parameter in the postlist shortcode. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes.

Risk Assessment

Authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages that execute whenever a user accesses the injected page via mouse interaction, potentially leading to data theft, session hijacking, or malware distribution.

Recommendation

Update the Simple post listing plugin to the latest available version that fixes this vulnerability. Also, restrict contributor-level access to trusted users only.
