Summary

The WP Restaurant Listings plugin for WordPress up to version 1.0.2 is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'align' parameter of the restaurant_summary shortcode. The plugin fails to properly sanitize input and escape output, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts.

Risk Assessment

Malicious scripts can execute in the browser of users visiting affected pages, potentially leading to data theft, session hijacking, or further attacks.

Recommendation

Update the plugin to the latest patched version. If not available, restrict use of the shortcode to trusted users.

Original NVD description (English source)

The WP Restaurant Listings plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'align' parameter of the restaurant_summary shortcode in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.2. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
