Summary

The Simple Tableau Viz plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'tableau' shortcode in all versions up to and including 2.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or above to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user accesses an injected page.

Risk Assessment

The risk involves the possibility of injecting malicious scripts that can steal user data, hijack sessions, or distribute malware. This can lead to security breaches and loss of trust in the website.

Recommendation

Update the plugin to the latest version if available, and check pages for injected scripts. Also, restrict user permissions to the minimum necessary.
