Summary

The JB News Ticker plugin for WordPress (all versions up to and including 1.0) is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting (XSS) via the 'id' shortcode attribute of the 'jbticker' shortcode. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. An authenticated attacker with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary scripts into pages.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with a contributor account can place malicious code in content that executes for any user visiting the infected page, potentially leading to session theft or other actions.

Recommendation

Update the JB News Ticker plugin to a version newer than 1.0 when available. Until then, consider restricting contributor privileges or disabling the plugin.
