Summary

The This-or-That plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'thisorthat' shortcode in versions up to and including 1.0.4. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when a user accesses an injected page.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can inject malicious scripts that execute in the browsers of users visiting infected pages, potentially leading to data theft, session hijacking, or malware distribution.

Recommendation

Update the This-or-That plugin to the latest available version that includes security fixes. Additionally, restrict user privileges to the minimum necessary level.
