Summary

In the Linux kernel, the iterate_inode_ref() function in btrfs: send has a path ref underflow issue. BUG_ON was replaced with proper error handling when building the path buffer fails. Pointers are not printed to avoid leaking kernel addresses.

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability can cause a kernel panic (denial of service) when the path buffer fails. No kernel address leak was observed.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for CVE-2024-35935. Apply the latest stable kernel updates.
