Summary

A vulnerability in the dset library before version 3.1.4 allows Prototype Pollution via the dset function due to improper user input sanitization. An attacker can inject a malicious object property using the built-in __proto__ property, which is recursively assigned to all objects in the program.

Risk Assessment

The risk involves potential application compromise through prototype manipulation, which could lead to arbitrary code execution, privilege escalation, or data integrity violations.

Recommendation

Immediately update the dset library to version 3.1.4 or later. If an update is not possible, implement temporary mitigations such as input validation and sanitization before passing data to the dset function.
