Summary

In the Linux kernel, the iommufd subsystem has a vulnerability due to missing update of the domains_itree after splitting an iopt_area. If the original area was linked to a domain, pages are not properly reinserted, leading to tree corruption and use-after-free (UAF).

Risk Assessment

An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a system crash or potentially escalate privileges in kernel context.

Recommendation

Install the Linux kernel update containing the fix for CVE-2023-52801 to prevent structure corruption and UAF.
