Summary

In the Netfilter subsystem of the Linux kernel, the xt_u32 module did not validate the fields in the xt_u32 structure. This allows a local privileged attacker to trigger an out-of-bounds read by setting size fields beyond array boundaries, leading to a crash or information disclosure.

Risk Assessment

A local privileged attacker can cause a system crash or leak kernel data, potentially compromising confidentiality and availability.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version that includes the fix for field validation in the xt_u32 module.
