CVE-2023-37266
CriticalCVSS 9.8Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Very high risk92th percentile - higher than 92% of all known CVEs
Summary
CasaOS is an open-source Personal Cloud system. Unauthenticated attackers can craft arbitrary JWTs and access features that usually require authentication and execute arbitrary commands as `root` on CasaOS instances.
Risk Assessment
The organization may be exposed to unauthorized access to the system and the ability to execute malicious commands, potentially leading to serious security breaches.
Recommendation
It is recommended to upgrade to CasaOS version 0.4.4 to patch this vulnerability. If an upgrade is not possible, temporarily restrict access to CasaOS for untrusted users.
Other vulnerabilities in CasaOS
See all- CVE-2023-37265Critical
CasaOS is an open-source Personal Cloud system. Due to a lack of IP address verification, unauthenticated attackers can execute arbitrary commands as `root` on CasaOS instances.
- CVE-2025-34171Medium
CasaOS versions up to and including 0.4.15 expose multiple unauthenticated endpoints that allow remote attackers to retrieve sensitive configuration files and system debug information. The /v1/users/image and /v1/sys/debug endpoints can be abused to access files and disclose host OS, kernel, hardware, and storage details.
- CVE-2023-37469High
CasaOS is an open-source personal cloud system. Prior to version 0.4.4, an authenticated user who successfully connects to a controlled SMB server can execute arbitrary commands.
Original NVD description (English source)
CasaOS is an open-source Personal Cloud system. Unauthenticated attackers can craft arbitrary JWTs and access features that usually require authentication and execute arbitrary commands as `root` on CasaOS instances. This problem was addressed by improving the validation of JWTs in commit `705bf1f`. This patch is part of CasaOS 0.4.4. Users should upgrade to CasaOS 0.4.4. If they can't, they should temporarily restrict access to CasaOS to untrusted users, for instance by not exposing it publicly.
