CVE-2023-33248
HighCVSS 7.6Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk47th percentile - higher than 47% of all known CVEs
Summary
Amazon Alexa software version 8960323972 on Echo Dot 2nd generation and 3rd generation devices potentially allows attackers to deliver security-relevant commands via an audio signal between 16 and 22 kHz, often outside the range of human adult hearing.
Risk Assessment
Attackers may exploit this vulnerability to issue commands that can be successful, even though they are not spoken by authorized users, posing a serious security threat to the devices.
Recommendation
It is recommended to update the software to the latest version to minimize the risk associated with this vulnerability and to monitor devices for unauthorized commands.

Original NVD description (English source)
Amazon Alexa software version 8960323972 on Echo Dot 2nd generation and 3rd generation devices potentially allows attackers to deliver security-relevant commands via an audio signal between 16 and 22 kHz (often outside the range of human adult hearing). Commands at these frequencies are essentially never spoken by authorized actors, but a substantial fraction of the commands are successful.
