CVE-2022-42472
MediumCVSS 4.2Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk39th percentile - higher than 39% of all known CVEs
Summary
Fortinet FortiOS and FortiProxy contain an improper neutralization of CRLF sequences in HTTP headers (HTTP response splitting). An authenticated remote attacker can perform an HTTP request splitting attack, gaining control of the remaining headers and body of the response.
Risk Assessment
An attacker with a valid account can inject arbitrary headers and response body, enabling cache poisoning or embedding malicious content. This may lead to phishing or user session compromise.
Recommendation
Upgrade FortiOS and FortiProxy to patched versions. Restrict access to administrative interfaces and validate HTTP headers.
