Summary

An out-of-bounds read flaw was found in the Linux kernel's TeleTYpe subsystem. It occurs when a user triggers a race condition using ioctls TIOCSPTLCK, TIOCGPTPEER, TIOCSTI, and TCXONC, causing memory leakage in the flush_to_ldisc function. This allows a local user to crash the system or read unauthorized random data from memory.

Risk Assessment

A local user can crash the system or access unauthorized kernel memory data. This may lead to denial of service or leakage of sensitive information.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for CVE-2022-1462. Restrict local user privileges to the minimum necessary.
