CVE-2021-46008
HighCVSS 8.8Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Elevated risk55th percentile - higher than 55% of all known CVEs
Summary
In the Totolink A3100R router with firmware version V5.9c.4577, a hard-coded Telnet password was discovered that can be extracted from the official firmware release. An attacker connected to the Wi-Fi can easily gain root shell access via Telnet if the service is enabled.
Risk Assessment
The risk involves potential full compromise of the router by an attacker on the local network, leading to breach of confidentiality and integrity of network data.
Recommendation
Immediately update the router firmware to the latest available version, and disable the Telnet service if not required. Consider replacing the device with a model that has active vendor support.
