Summary

A vulnerability in the sfmgr daemon of Cisco FMC and FTD Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to perform directory traversal and access directories outside the restricted path. The issue is due to insufficient input validation. An attacker could exploit this by using a relative path in specific sfmgr commands, potentially allowing arbitrary file read or write on an sftunnel-connected peer device.

Risk Assessment

The risk is the potential for unauthorized file access and possible compromise of devices connected via sftunnel.

Recommendation

Update FMC/FTD software to patched versions and restrict access to sfmgr commands to trusted users.
