Deserialization of Untrusted Data in the Sitecore.Security.AntiCSRF (aka anti CSRF) module in Sitecore CMS 7.0 to 7.2 and Sitecore XP 7.5 to 8.2 allows an unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code by sending a serialized .NET object in the HTTP POST parameter __CSRFTOKEN.
Risk Assessment
An attacker could remotely execute arbitrary code on the server, leading to full system compromise. The risk is critical as it requires no authentication and is easy to exploit.
Recommendation
Apply available patches for Sitecore CMS and Sitecore XP or update to versions where the vulnerability is fixed. Monitoring for unusual POST requests with the __CSRFTOKEN parameter is also recommended.
