Summary

In the Linux kernel before version 5.3.5, there is a memory leak in the ql_alloc_large_buffers() function in the qla3xxx driver. A local user can trigger pci_dma_mapping_error() failures, leading to excessive memory consumption and denial of service.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with local access can exhaust system memory, causing service unavailability and system instability.

Recommendation

It is recommended to update the Linux kernel to version 5.3.5 or later, which includes a fix for the memory leak.
