CVE-2017-6713
CriticalSummary
A vulnerability in the Play Framework of Cisco Elastic Services Controller (ESC) allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain full access to the system. The issue is due to static, default credentials for the Cisco ESC UI that are shared between installations.
Risk Assessment
An attacker who can extract the static credentials from an existing installation of Cisco ESC could generate an admin session token, allowing access to all instances of the ESC web UI. This poses a significant security risk to the organization.
Recommendation
It is recommended to update Cisco Elastic Services Controller to versions 2.3.1.434 or 2.3.2 to mitigate this vulnerability. Additionally, consider changing default credentials to unique and strong passwords.
