CVE-2016-3756
HighSummary
In the mediaserver component in Android 4.x before 4.4.4, 5.0.x before 5.0.2, 5.1.x before 5.1.1, and 6.x before July 1, 2016, the number of partitions is not validated, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service (device hang or reboot) via a crafted media file.
Risk Assessment
Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to disrupt the operation of Android devices, potentially leading to service availability interruptions and negatively impacting users.
Recommendation
It is recommended to update the Android system to the latest version to mitigate this vulnerability and to monitor devices for unusual activities related to media playback.
