CVE-2015-6117
MediumCVSS 6.1Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Very high risk94th percentile - higher than 94% of all known CVEs
Summary
Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 and SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1 allow remote authenticated users to bypass intended Access Control Policy restrictions and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks by modifying a webpart. This is known as "Microsoft SharePoint Security Feature Bypass" and is different from CVE-2016-0011.
Risk Assessment
An authenticated attacker can execute malicious script in other users' browsers, potentially leading to session or data theft. Bypassing access control policies weakens SharePoint security mechanisms.
Recommendation
Apply the appropriate Microsoft security updates for SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 and SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1. Restrict webpart modification permissions to trusted users.
