CVE-2014-8147

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The resolveImplicitLevels function in common/ubidi.c in the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm implementation in ICU4C before version 55.1 uses an integer data type that is inconsistent with a header file. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted text.

Risk Assessment

Organizations may be exposed to attacks that lead to denial of service or unauthorized code execution, which can result in serious security implications for their systems.

Recommendation

It is recommended to upgrade to ICU4C version 55.1 or later to mitigate this vulnerability and to conduct a security audit of applications using this library.
