Summary

The kgsl graphics driver for Linux kernel 3.x improperly prevents write access to IOMMU context registers, allowing local users to select a custom page table. Consequently, they can write to arbitrary memory locations by using a crafted GPU command stream.

Risk Assessment

This vulnerability poses a risk of unauthorized memory access, potentially leading to serious security breaches. Local users could exploit this flaw to gain control over the system or exfiltrate data.

Recommendation

It is recommended to update the Linux kernel to the latest version that includes security patches. Additionally, restricting access to the system for local users may minimize the risk of exploiting this vulnerability.
