CVE-2006-4244

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

SQL-Ledger versions 2.4.4 through 2.6.17 authenticate users by verifying that the value of the sql-ledger-[username] cookie matches the value of the sessionid parameter. This allows remote attackers to gain access as any logged-in user by setting the cookie and the parameter to the same value.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can hijack the session of any logged-in user, including an administrator, without knowing the password. This leads to full access to accounting data and the ability to modify the system.

Recommendation

Update SQL-Ledger to a version later than 2.6.17, which fixes this vulnerability. If updating is not possible, implement additional server-side session verification mechanisms.
