CVE-2006-2376

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

An integer overflow in the PolyPolygon function of the Graphics Rendering Engine on Microsoft Windows 98 and Me allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted WMF or EMF image. The flaw occurs when the sum of entries in the vertex counts array and the number of polygons triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.

Risk Assessment

An unauthenticated remote attacker can gain full control of the affected system, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Recommendation

Apply the security update provided by Microsoft in bulletin MS06-026 immediately, or consider retiring Windows 98/Me systems as they are no longer supported.
