CVE-2006-1739

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The CSS border-rendering code in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird 1.x before 1.5 and 1.0.x before 1.0.8, Mozilla Suite before 1.7.13, and SeaMonkey before 1.0 contains a buffer overflow vulnerability. Remote attackers can cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that trigger an out-of-bounds array write.

Risk Assessment

The risk for the organization is that an attacker could remotely execute arbitrary code on user workstations running vulnerable browser versions, potentially leading to system compromise or data leakage.

Recommendation

Immediately update Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, Mozilla Suite, and SeaMonkey to patched versions (1.5, 1.0.8, 1.7.13, and 1.0 respectively).
