CVE-2006-0686

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In Virtual Hosting Control System (VHCS) 2.4.7.1 and earlier, the add_user.php script does not check user privileges when adding a new administrative user. This allows a remote attacker to create an admin account without authorization.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can gain full control over the hosting management panel, leading to compromise of client accounts, server configuration changes, and data theft.

Recommendation

Immediately update VHCS to the latest available version or apply a security patch. If an update is not possible, restrict access to the add_user.php script using firewall rules and authentication.
