CVE Catalog

CVE-2005-4765

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

BEA WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express versions 8.1 SP4 and earlier, and 7.0 SP6 and earlier, when using the weblogic.Deployer command with the t3 protocol, do not use the secure t3s protocol even when an Administration port is enabled on the Administration server. This could allow remote attackers to sniff the connection.

Risk Assessment

The risk involves potential interception of sensitive data transmitted between the administrator and the server, which could lead to disclosure of passwords, configurations, or other confidential information.

Recommendation

Upgrade to WebLogic Server/Express 8.1 SP5 or 7.0 SP7, which enforce the use of the t3s protocol for administrative commands. Alternatively, configure network-level encryption (e.g., VPN).
