CVE-2005-3539

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Multiple eval injection vulnerabilities in HylaFAX 4.2.3 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via the notify script (versions 4.2.0-4.2.3) or crafted CallID parameters to the faxrcvd script (versions 4.2.2-4.2.3).

Risk Assessment

An attacker can remotely take control of the fax server, leading to compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, with potential for lateral movement within the internal network.

Recommendation

Immediately upgrade HylaFAX to version 4.2.4 or later. If upgrade is not possible, restrict access to the notify and faxrcvd scripts to trusted hosts only.
