Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Vulnerability in D-Link routers allows authentication bypass when executing /cgi-bin/firmwarecfg. An attacker can gain unauthorized access if their IP address is already in /var/tmp/fw_ip or if they are the first requester, which creates the file with their IP address.

Risk Assessment

The risk involves potential unauthorized access to router firmware configuration, which could lead to device and network compromise.

Recommendation

Immediately update D-Link router firmware to a patched version and restrict management interface access to trusted IP addresses only.

D-Link DSL-502T, DSL-504T, DSL-562T, and DSL-G604T, when /cgi-bin/firmwarecfg is executed, allows remote attackers to bypass authentication (1) if their IP address already exists in /var/tmp/fw_ip or (2) if their request is the first, which causes /var/tmp/fw_ip to be created and contain their IP address.
