Weekly CVE digest

One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.

This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.

I agree to receive the weekly CVE digest at the address above. I can withdraw this consent at any time using the link in the footer of every message.

CVE-2024-42002
High

A code injection vulnerability has been discovered in the Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) 'ros2topic' command-line tool, affecting all ROS 2 distributions from Crystal Clemmys up to and including Lyrical Luth and Rolling Ridley. The vulnerability lies in the 'hz' verb, which reports the publishing rate of a topic and accepts a user-provided Python expression via the --filter option. This input is passed directly to the eval() function without sanitization, allowing a local user to craft and execute arbitrary code.

CVE-2026-97027
Low

Flatpak passes through arbitrary vendor-extension keys unmodified when exporting an application's Desktop Entry (.desktop) and D-Bus Service (.service) files, instead of validating against an allowlist. A malicious Flatpak app can use this to cause denial of service (e.g. forced application restart loops) or to influence host D-Bus/systemd activation behavior beyond what the sandbox is intended to permit.

CVE-2026-97026
Low

Flatpak creates temporary child repository directories under the user cache with world-writable permissions (0777). On multi-user systems with a permissive umask, other local users could read or modify the temporary directory used while installing apps or runtimes, potentially causing installation failures (denial of service); tampered content would fail signature/digest verification rather than being trusted.

CVE-2026-97025
Low

Flatpak writes the OCI repository authentication token with world-readable permissions (0644) in the system-helper's cache directory, allowing other local users on a multi-user system to read the token and impersonate the authenticated user against the OCI repository. Only OCI-based sources (e.g. as used by Fedora) are affected; libostree-based sources such as Flathub are not.

CVE-2026-91096
High

In proxygen from v2024.10.28.00 until v2026.09.28.00, WebTransportImpl::terminateSessionStreams (WebTransportImpl::destroy in releases before v2025.08.18.00) failed to unregister read callbacks for streams that were no longer open before destroying them. The transport could then invoke a read callback that had been freed.

CVE-2026-91095
Medium

In proxygen from v2024.10.28.00 until v2026.09.28.00, the HTTPTransaction::onWebTransportUniStream and HTTPTransaction::onWebTransportBidiStream APIs could return stream handles that the stream handler had already freed. HQSession then installed those handles as transport read callbacks, which could lead to use of freed memory.

CVE-2026-84895
High

In proxygen from v2026.04.06.00 until v2026.09.28.00, QuicWtSession::closeSession accesses its member fields after calling the base QuicWtSessionBase::closeSession method. The base method notifies the session handler, which may release the last reference to the session and destroy it.

CVE-2026-18416
Low

In the CoAP subsystem (subsys/net/lib/coap/coap_link_format.c), the match_path_uri() function compares a registered resource path against the URI in the Uri-Query href option. The URI is not NUL-terminated, and the inner loop advances index k without checking it against the option length len, causing an out-of-bounds read when the resource path is longer than the URI and the URI is a prefix. The vulnerability is reachable via an unauthenticated GET /.well-known/core?href=/<prefix> request to a device with CONFIG_COAP_SERVER_WELL_KNOWN_CORE enabled (default y) and at least one resource with struct coap_core_metadata attributes.

CVE-2026-18415
Medium

The ieee802154_send() function in Zephyr's network stack copies an outgoing packet into a fixed 125-byte transmit buffer without validating its length. When 6LoWPAN fragmentation is enabled but not required, the missing size check allows an out-of-bounds write past the buffer. The flaw is reachable through NET_AF_PACKET sockets bound to an 802.15.4 interface, including from an unprivileged application thread in CONFIG_USERSPACE builds.

CVE-2026-18414
High

The ADI MAX32 driver in Zephyr failed to properly validate the destination buffer size in adc_max32.c — it compared a byte count against a sample count, ignoring sizeof(uint16_t). As a result, a buffer half the required size was accepted and the driver wrote twice as many bytes as the buffer held, causing an out-of-bounds write. On builds with CONFIG_USERSPACE, an unprivileged user-mode thread can exploit this to corrupt kernel memory.

CVE-2026-18413
High

The NXP MCUX LPADC driver in Zephyr failed to validate the destination buffer size before writing samples, despite the ADC API requiring drivers to reject sequences with insufficient buffers. As a result, samples are written past the end of the buffer, causing kernel memory corruption. On builds with CONFIG_USERSPACE, an unprivileged user-mode thread can exploit this for privilege escalation or denial-of-service.

CVE-2026-16513
High

A vulnerability in the RTIO syscall verifier in Zephyr RTOS (before v4.3.0) allows an unprivileged user thread to write a pointer to controlled data at an arbitrary kernel address. The missing K_SYSCALL_MEMORY_WRITE check for the handle output parameter enables privilege escalation to kernel mode.

CVE-2026-102279
Low

In Laravel prior to versions 12.69.0 and 13.30.0, exception debug pages with APP_DEBUG=true pass attacker-controlled input to a Tippy.js tooltip configured with allowHTML=true, enabling DOM-based cross-site scripting when a user hovers over the tooltip.

CVE-2026-102278
High

The brace-expansion library generates arbitrary strings containing a common prefix and suffix. Prior to 1.1.20, 2.1.6, 3.0.8, and 5.0.11, deeply nested brace groups cause expand_() to recurse once per nesting level at comma-member and single-set expansion sites, exhausting the native stack before output limits can apply and potentially terminating the Node.js process. expand_ performs uncontrolled recursion for nested brace alternatives and single-part sets. deeply nested brace groups supplied as an untrusted pattern. expand_ is affected. expand is affected. Comma members is affected. Single set is affected. native stack exhaustion during nested sub-expansion. process-terminating denial of service. This issue is fixed in versions 1.1.20, 2.1.6, 3.0.8, and 5.0.11.

CVE-2026-102277
Medium

The brace-expansion library generates arbitrary strings containing a common prefix and suffix. Prior to 1.1.21, 2.1.7, 3.0.9, and 5.0.12, the expand function handles untrusted {a},b}-shaped patterns with many trailing closing braces by restarting its scan once for each trailing closing brace. The successive full-input rescans with linear working-string growth cause quadratic CPU time and memory pressure that can block the Node.js event loop. The process eventually recovers, making the impact a recoverable CPU denial of service.

CVE-2026-102276
High

The brace-expansion library generates arbitrary strings containing a common prefix and suffix. Prior to 1.1.19, 2.1.5, 3.0.7, and 5.0.10, crafted brace patterns can exhaust the native stack in parseCommaParts because it recursively processes the remainder once per brace group and uses push.apply to pass every element of a very large comma-part array as a function argument. This can terminate the Node.js process in a process-terminating denial of service.

CVE-2026-102275
Medium

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.1.0 until 2.15.0, PyJWT OKPAlgorithm.from_jwk in jwt/algorithms.py is affected because private-JWK import path does not compare the public key derived from d with x. This occurs when an OKP private JWK supplies non-corresponding x and d components. As a result, identity derived from x can differ from operations performed with d.

CVE-2026-102274
Medium

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.9.0 until 2.14.0, PyJWKSet does not catch the plain ValueError raised for malformed RSA JWK components by RSAAlgorithm.from_jwk in jwt/api_jwk.py. This occurs when a JWK Set contains a malformed RSA key alongside otherwise usable keys. As a result, one malformed member aborts construction of the entire PyJWKSet.

CVE-2026-102273
High

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.13.0 until 2.14.0, HMACAlgorithm.prepare_key is affected because the HMAC key guard only recognizes top-level public JWK forms and misses container representations. When an application allows HMAC and asymmetric algorithms and passes a public JWK container as the raw key, public asymmetric key material is accepted as the HMAC secret. Consequently, an attacker who knows the public key can forge a token with arbitrary authenticated claims.

CVE-2026-102272
High

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.13.0 until 2.14.0, HMACAlgorithm.prepare_key in jwt/algorithms.py is affected because the raw-JWK detector does not normalize accepted Unicode byte-order marks before checking for JSON. When a public JWK is prefixed with a UTF-8 BOM and used in a mixed-algorithm verification path, the public JWK bypasses asymmetric-key detection and becomes the HMAC secret. Consequently, an attacker who knows the public key can forge authenticated tokens.
