Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
openssl_encrypt versions before 1.4.0 contain hardcoded default JWT signing secrets in config.py that pass validation checks. Attackers with access to source code can forge valid JWT tokens for any client_id to gain authenticated access to keyserver and telemetry APIs.
openssl_encrypt versions before 1.4.0 contain a hardcoded default secret key in the standalone telemetry server configuration that is used for API key hashing. Attackers who know this default value can predict or forge API key hashes to compromise telemetry API authentication.
openssl_encrypt versions before 1.4.0 use a non-standard PBKDF2 key derivation construction with iterations=1 per call in an outer loop, creating a KDF whose security properties have not been formally analyzed. Attackers can exploit this weakened key derivation to more efficiently crack passwords protecting legacy encrypted files compared to standard PBKDF2 implementations.
openssl_encrypt before version 1.4.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the _is_safe_path method where the plugin_id parameter is not sanitized before constructing the plugin config directory path. Attackers can declare a malicious plugin_id containing path traversal sequences like '../' to access arbitrary directories outside the intended plugin directory.
openssl_encrypt before version 1.4.0 contains a sandbox bypass vulnerability where the plugin sandbox fails to restrict alternative file access methods like pathlib.Path and io.open. Attackers can import pathlib or io modules to read and write arbitrary files, completely bypassing the restricted_open file access controls.
openssl_encrypt before version 1.4.0 contains an insecure default configuration that trusts the entire RFC 1918 private address space in IntegrityProxyConfig trusted_proxies. Attackers on private networks can forge client certificate headers to bypass mTLS authentication when ProxyAuth validation is relaxed or modified.
openssl_encrypt before version 1.4.0 contains an information disclosure vulnerability in the /ready endpoint that returns full database exception strings to unauthenticated callers. Attackers can trigger database errors to extract sensitive information including hostnames, IP addresses, connection parameters, and potentially credentials from exception messages.
openssl_encrypt before version 1.4.0 contains a missing ownership verification vulnerability in the revoke_key method that allows authenticated clients to revoke any other client's key. Attackers can revoke arbitrary keys by providing a valid ML-DSA signature, bypassing the intended ownership restriction.
openssl_encrypt before version 1.4.0 use Python's non-cryptographic random module for steganographic pixel selection in the generate_pseudorandom_sequence function. Attackers who know the password can recover the Mersenne Twister state from approximately 624 outputs and predict pixel locations containing hidden data for extraction.
stoatchat before 0.15.0 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in the Subscribe message handler that allows authenticated attackers to enumerate members and monitor profile updates of private servers without membership. Attackers can subscribe to any server's member-update topic by sending a Subscribe message with an arbitrary server ID, receiving live UserUpdate events including display names, avatars, and status changes for members they should not have access to.
SiYuan versions before 3.7.4 contain an unthrottled brute-force vulnerability in the Publish Service Basic Auth implementation (PublishServiceTransport.RoundTrip() in kernel/server/proxy/publish.go). The Publish Service runs on a separate, unauthenticated-by-default listener (default TCP port 6808) and gates named publish-viewer accounts (Conf.Publish.Auth.Accounts) with Basic Auth that has no rate limiting, per-account lockout, or backoff. Unauthenticated remote attackers can submit unlimited password guesses against named accounts to gain access to published notes/notebooks.
SiYuan versions before 3.7.4 contain a cross-site WebSocket hijacking vulnerability in the admin-only /ws/network/proxy endpoint that explicitly disables origin validation by setting CheckOrigin to unconditionally return true. Attackers can craft malicious webpages that establish WebSocket connections to this endpoint and direct the SiYuan kernel process to proxy arbitrary network traffic to attacker-chosen targets, enabling authenticated network pivoting through the victim's machine.
SiYuan before 3.7.4 fails to properly escape workspace directory paths when constructing command-line arguments for the elevated elevator.exe helper process. Attackers can create a malicious workspace directory with command metacharacters in its path and trigger the Microsoft Defender exclusion flow to execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges after UAC approval.
SiYuan kernel before v3.7.4 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the database_clean MCP tool. The tool only checks if the id parameter is not empty before passing it to RemoveUnusedAttributeView, which builds a filesystem path without validating the ID format. An authenticated MCP client can use path traversal sequences to copy an arbitrary readable file into SiYuan's history directory (arbitrary file read) and then delete the original file (arbitrary file deletion).
The Official Document Management System developed by 2100 Technology has an Arbitrary File Upload vulnerability, allowing authenticated remote attackers to upload and execute web shell backdoors, thereby enabling arbitrary code execution on the server.
Loading arbitrary external URLs through WebView components introduces malicious JS code that can steal arbitrary user tokens.
In the Linux kernel, a vulnerability in netfilter: nft_payload was fixed regarding mask build for partial field offload. For a partial IPv6 address match (field_len = 16, priv_len = 1), the shift 1 << 120 is undefined on 32-bit int. It also over-masks trailing bytes, potentially causing packet matching errors. The fix sets bytes directly and removes the unsafe shift.
A vulnerability was detected in GL.iNet devices (A1300, AX1800, AXT1800, MT2500, MT3000, MT6000, X3000, XE3000) version 4.8.x. The issue affects the file /usr/bin/gl_nas_sys in the NAS Command Service component, allowing OS command injection. The attack can be launched remotely. Upgrading to version 4.9.0 addresses the issue.
A vulnerability was detected in GL.iNet BE9300 and MT6000 devices version 4.8.x. The issue affects the Firewall-management RPC component, where manipulation of dest_port/dest_ip arguments leads to OS command injection. The attack can be initiated remotely. Upgrading to version 4.9.0 resolves the issue.
A vulnerability was detected in multiple GL.iNet devices (including A1300, AX1800, BE9300, MT6000) up to version 4.8.x. The issue affects the Wi-Fi Timer Power-Schedule feature, where manipulation of switch_power/restore_power arguments leads to OS command injection. The attack can be launched remotely.
