Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
tftp-hpa versions 5.4 through before 6.0 contain an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in rewrite_string() in tftpd/remap.c that walks heap memory during jump label searches. Unauthenticated remote attackers can send read or write requests with filenames matching a remap jump rule to crash the forked in.tftpd request handler.
A vulnerability was determined in Kusalkasilva Learning-Management-System up to ffeb873f8803f1e9664384ff75000c7da45466d2. The impacted element is an unknown function of the file student_signup.php of the component Student Registration Endpoint. This manipulation causes sql injection. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized.
lrzsz before 0.13.0 has a heap-based buffer overflow in procheader() of the lrz receive utility when copying overlong sender-supplied filenames into Pathname. Malicious ZMODEM senders can supply filenames up to 8192 bytes, overflowing the buffer via sprintf() in pipe mode or strcpy() to corrupt heap memory and crash lrz.
lrzsz before 0.13.0 contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the lrz receive utility's pipe mode that allows remote senders to execute commands by supplying crafted filenames. When lrz runs under a suffixed name such as lrztar, procheader() in src/lrz.c passes the unescaped ZMODEM/YMODEM filename to popen(), so shell metacharacters execute as the receiving user.
lrzsz before 0.13.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the lrz receive utility's restricted mode that allows malicious ZMODEM senders to write files outside the current directory using absolute pathnames. Because checkpath() in src/lrz.c only rejects '../' sequences unless built with --enable-pubdir, attackers can send files named with absolute paths to overwrite any file writable by the receiving user.
libmikmod before 3.3.14 contains an integer overflow in the Oktalyzer loader OKT_doPBOD() that allows attackers to cause heap buffer overflow via crafted track counts. Attackers can supply an OKT module whose SLEN chunk wraps the 16-bit numtrk value, causing PBOD writes past allocated track pointers for crashes or code execution.
libmikmod before 3.3.14 has a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the Impulse Tracker loader load_it.c that allows attackers to read adjacent heap memory via oversized patterns. Attackers can supply a crafted IT module with more than 200 pattern rows, causing IT_ConvertTrack() to read past the itpat buffer and crash applications.
libmikmod before 3.3.14 contains an integer overflow vulnerability in DSM_Load() in load_dsm.c that allows attackers to trigger heap buffer overflow via crafted track counts. Attackers can supply a DSM module whose numchn and numpat product wraps a 16-bit value, overwriting heap memory to cause crashes or potential code execution.
Microsoft UFO prior to 3.0.9 has a vulnerability where authenticated device registration through /api/devices can supply a permitted attacker-controlled WebSocket endpoint while aip/transport/websocket.py applies pinned_addresses only to the initial destination. The pinned websockets.connect() client follows cross-origin redirects and opens a new TCP connection before Galaxy performs its post-handshake peer-IP validation, allowing WebSocket upgrade requests to internal hosts reachable from the server. The confirmed impact is the internal connection and handshake request, and does not establish arbitrary HTTP methods, response-body disclosure, a completed AIP session, or cloud metadata access. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.9.
In Microsoft UFO's execute_command tool (linux_mcp_server.py), sort and uniq are treated as read-only commands even though their options allow file output. An authenticated caller can use sort -o or the optional second uniq operand to create or overwrite files writable by the UFO server process without shell metacharacters. The issue is fixed in version 3.0.9.
Microsoft UFO prior to 3.0.10 contains a vulnerability in the type_text and launch_app tools where text and package_name parameters are passed to adb shell commands without proper validation. An attacker with a valid Mobile MCP API key can execute additional commands on an authorized device as the Android shell user.
A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the Forums feature of OpenText Content Management Content Server. A bad actor could inject malicious code into a Forums web page.
Smarty before 4.5.8 and 5.x before 5.8.5 contains a code injection vulnerability where nocache_hash is not restored during extends:/multi-component template inheritance, leaving it null. Attackers can supply data with a forged SmartyNocache marker that is copied into the PHP cache file, enabling arbitrary PHP execution.
Mitigation bypass in the File Handling component. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 157.0.1 and Thunderbird 158.
Kusalkasilva Learning-Management-System up to ffeb873f8803f1e9664384ff75000c7da45466d2 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in the mysql_query function in admin/login.php (Administrator Login Endpoint). Manipulation of username/password arguments allows remote attack.
QloApps through 1.7.0 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in AdminProductsController::ajaxProcessBulkUpdateRooms. Hotel-restricted back-office employees can modify rooms of other hotels by submitting foreign room IDs in the id_rooms parameter, changing status, floor, comments, or inactive dates.
PLANKA 2.2.0 through 2.2.1 fails to limit incorrect TOTP codes submitted to POST /api/access-tokens/verify-totp, allowing brute force of two-factor codes. Attackers who know a user's password can reuse the ten-minute pending token to guess codes and obtain a full access token.
Rundeck before 6.2.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows users holding only the project configure ACL to read arbitrary server files by setting resources.source.N.config.file to any absolute path. Attackers can retrieve file contents through editProjectNodeSourceFile or the apiSourceGetContent endpoint to obtain database passwords, LDAP bind credentials, and other projects' data.
HCL BigFix Service Management is affected by an Improper Input Validation vulnerability, which could allow an attacker to supply unexpected or malformed data, enabling processing errors, business logic bypasses, and unintended application behavior.
Kusalkasilva Learning-Management-System up to ffeb873f8803f1e9664384ff75000c7da45466d2 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in the mysql_error function in login.php (Login Endpoint). Manipulation of username/password arguments allows remote attack.
