Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
Serena before 2.0.0 contains an improper link resolution vulnerability that allows attackers to access files outside the project root by committing symlinks inside a repository. Project.is_path_in_project() normalizes paths lexically without resolving symlinks, so file tools like read_file and create_text_file can read or overwrite files such as SSH keys or cloud credentials.
ImageMagick before 7.1.2-33 and 6.9.13-58 contains a heap buffer underwrite vulnerability in DecodeImage() in coders/pict.c on 32-bit builds due to pointer arithmetic overflow. Attackers can supply a crafted PICT file with maximized row, column and bytes-per-line values to bypass bounds checks and write up to 128 controlled bytes below the heap buffer, causing crashes or code execution.
Froxlor before 2.3.14 contains an insecure direct object reference vulnerability in the email template editor (admin_templates.php) because the mail body is fetched by mailbodyid without an adminid ownership check. Authenticated reseller admins can pair their own subjectid with sequential foreign mailbodyid values in edit requests to read other admins' email templates, including the full administrator's.
Froxlor 0.10.0 before 2.3.14 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows reseller accounts to read full-admin-only MySQL server and cronjob configuration via API read commands. Resellers can call MysqlServer.listing, MysqlServer.get, or Cronjobs.listing through api.php to obtain management usernames, hosts, ports, TLS settings, and cron metadata.
Froxlor 0.10.0 before 2.3.14 contains a newline injection vulnerability that allows authenticated customers to inject arbitrary entries into the root-owned NSS group database via the unvalidated additional_members parameter of the Ftps.add API. Attackers can embed newline characters that the REBUILD_NSSUSERS cron writes unsanitized into /var/lib/extrausers/group, creating privileged group entries for local privilege escalation.
Froxlor 2.0.0 before 2.3.14 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows authenticated customers to inject HTML and JavaScript by setting a malicious theme value via customer_index.php. Script executes when an administrator views the customer overview with the Theme column enabled, letting attackers abuse the CSRF token to create administrator accounts or change server settings.
EspoCRM 4.0.0 before 10.0.7 contains an access control vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read audited field values restricted by field-level security by fetching individual stream notes. Users with stream access to a parent record can request GET /Note/{id}, which skips the NoteAccessControl filter, and recover data.attributes.was and became values of restricted fields.
EspoCRM 4.0.0 before 10.0.7 contains an improper access control vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read restricted emailAddress values via the address-book search API. Users with record access can query address-book search to obtain email addresses even when Roles restrict the emailAddress field.
EspoCRM before 10.0.7 contains an insecure direct object reference vulnerability that allows authenticated users with Import scope access to read other users' attachments by supplying a foreign attachmentId to the Import endpoint. Attackers can create an Import record referencing a known attachment ID, then call the error export endpoint to copy source rows into a downloadable CSV they own.
NLTK through 3.10.3 contains a path traversal vulnerability in WekaClassifier that allows attackers to bypass nltk.pathsec containment by supplying unvalidated model paths. Attackers controlling the model_filename or model argument can make the weka JVM write files via -d or probe files via -l outside allowed data roots.
Hono from 4.12.4 before 4.13.11 contains a middleware bypass vulnerability in serveStatic that allows unauthenticated attackers to skip prefix middleware by exploiting double path decoding. Attackers can send malformed percent-encoded paths that the router matches in encoded form, reaching static files without authentication checks running.
Parse Server 5.4.0 before 8.6.96 and 9.0.0 before 9.10.2-alpha.5 shares transactional batch state across concurrent requests, letting any client's transactional batch request interfere with other clients' database writes. On PostgreSQL or MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters, other clients' acknowledged writes are rolled back if the batch fails, and PostgreSQL transactions can remain open indefinitely, causing subsequent writes to fail.
FreeRDP 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 contains an insufficiently protected credentials vulnerability where the /restricted-admin option fails to suppress CredSSP credential delegation, sending the cleartext password to the RDP server. A compromised or man-in-the-middle destination host can decode TSPasswordCreds and the Client Info PDU to obtain reusable administrative domain, username, and password values.
The FreeRDP client 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 does not check a server-selected PROTOCOL_RDSTLS or PROTOCOL_HYBRID_EX against its enabled protocol set in nego_process_negotiation_response(), allowing a security protocol downgrade. A malicious server or man-in-the-middle can select RDSTLS to override /sec:nla pinning, complete authentication with an all-zero cookie, and receive the user's cleartext password in the Client Info PDU.
FreeRDP 3.17.1 before 3.32.0 contains a heap buffer over-read vulnerability in DynvcTrackerHandleCreateBack of the freerdp-proxy DRDYNVC channel handler that allows malicious backend RDP servers to read heap memory out of bounds. Attackers can send a CREATE_REQUEST_PDU whose channel name lacks a NUL byte, causing an unbounded snprintf read that leaks memory into proxy logs or crashes the process.
FreeRDP from 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability. A malicious RD Gateway can set MsgBytes far larger than the NDR string ActualCount in consent or service messages, causing UTF-8 conversion to read past the stream allocation and crash the client.
FreeRDP 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 contains an improper restriction of excessive authentication attempts in its virtual smartcard GIDS implementation, where the PIN retry counter is stored per-handle. A malicious RDP server can exhaust the counter with VERIFY APDUs, then reset attempts via a new SCardConnect, enabling unbounded online brute-forcing of the smartcard PIN.
FreeRDP from 3.0.0 before 3.32.0 contains an uninitialized memory disclosure vulnerability in smartcard_Transmit_Call. A malicious RDP server can send SCardTransmit requests with an invalid card handle and nonzero receive length, causing smartcard_pack_transmit_return to serialize up to 66,560 uninitialized heap bytes.
FreeRDP from 3.20.1 before 3.32.0 contains an uncontrolled resource allocation vulnerability. A malicious RDP server can send IRP_MJ_READ with Length 0xffffffff, causing roughly 4 GiB of zeroed allocation on 64-bit builds or an under-reserved buffer on 32-bit builds.
FreeRDP 3.11.0 before 3.32.0 does not validate that AVC444 and AVC444v2 region widths are even before YUV444 conversion, so an odd width reaches an assertion and aborts the client. A malicious or compromised RDP server can terminate a connected FreeRDP client after RDPGFX AVC444 negotiation by sending an in-bounds region rectangle with an odd width.
