Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
A flaw was found in the DPDK vhost library. When handling a virtio indirect descriptor table, the host reads the table length more than once from guest memory and can allocate a host copy before validating that length. A guest that changes the length between those reads, or that supplies an out-of-range next index on a small host copy in the vDPA relay path, can cause the host vhost process to walk past the validated mapping or heap copy. That can crash or disrupt the vhost process. Out-of-bounds bytes are consumed as descriptor fields for GPA translation and are not returned to the guest as payload. This is a residual issue in the non-contiguous indirect descriptor copy path introduced as part of the CVE-2018-1059 fix.
Dell Terraform Provider for OME, versions 1.0.0 through 1.2.3, contains an Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File vulnerability in the provider configuration component. A low privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to information exposure.
A flaw was found in DPDK lib/vhost. Memory size is not adequately validated before mmap during vhost memory-region setup, which can lead to a host crash or memory corruption.
Dell Terraform Provider for Redfish, versions 1.1.0 through 1.6.1, contains an Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor vulnerability in the redfish_certificate resource component. A high privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to information exposure.
RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 4.0.0 until 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.4, the optimized AMQP 1.0 server_mode parser in deps/amqp10_common/src/amqp10_binary_parser.erl matches the textual prefixes of symbolic data, sequence, and value body descriptors without verifying their encoded symbol lengths. An authenticated AMQP 1.0 publisher with write permission can submit a well-formed unknown descriptor that begins with a registered body descriptor, and RabbitMQ misclassifies and stores the bytes as a standard body section. Strict AMQP 1.0 consumers can terminate while decoding the stored entry. For bodies misclassified as data, AMQP 0-9-1 or other cross-protocol conversion performs full body decoding and can terminate the consumer protocol process, with acknowledgement-required delivery permitting repeated failures. Sequence and value classifications are normally transported as opaque encoded payloads on that conversion path. The broker remains alive, and the issue does not bypass routing or authorization. This issue is fixed in versions 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.4.
RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 4.0.0 until 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.4, deps/amqp10_common/src/amqp10_binary_parser.erl materializes each element of AMQP 1.0 arrays whose shared constructor has zero width, while limiting only the number of elements in each array and not the aggregate arrays in a frame. After completing SASL authentication, a low-privilege client can send an ordinary frame containing many individually permitted arrays, causing a small frame to expand into a very large reader-process heap before later frame validation or authorization. Because deps/rabbit/src/rabbit_amqp_reader.erl clears the pre-authentication max_heap_size guard after login, repeated or concurrent frames can trigger the node-wide memory alarm, block publishers, or exhaust broker memory. This issue is fixed in versions 4.0.24, 4.1.15, 4.2.10, and 4.3.4.
YOURLS prior to 1.10.5 does not sanitize the request path in yourls_get_request(), so dot and slash traversal sequences are preserved and reach file_exists() and include() under YOURLS_PAGEDIR. An unauthenticated remote attacker can traverse outside the pages directory and include a local PHP file already present on the server, causing it to execute in the YOURLS web process. The issue is fixed in version 1.10.5.
TurboDocx html-to-docx through 1.23.1 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability that allows attackers supplying HTML to make the server fetch internal URLs via img src attributes. Attackers can reference loopback, private, or cloud metadata addresses that bypass the loose isValidUrl() check, and read responses embedded in the generated DOCX word/media folder.
Janus WebRTC Server through 1.4.3 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the Record&Play plugin that allows unauthenticated attackers to write files outside recordings_path via the record request filename. Attackers can supply filenames with path separators to create or truncate files ending in -audio.mjr, -video.mjr or -data.mjr anywhere the Janus process can write outside protected folders.
unshield through 1.6.2 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in unshield_get_file_table() that allows attackers to read past heap allocations via unchecked cabinet header offsets. Attackers can supply a crafted InstallShield cabinet with out-of-range file_table_offset or large file counts to crash the unshield tool or library consumers.
MuJS 1.3.6 before 1.3.9 contains a heap out-of-bounds read and write vulnerability in Array.prototype.sort that allows attackers to corrupt memory by inflating a simple array's length. Attackers can supply JavaScript that enlarges a dense array's length and calls sort, causing Ap_sort_cmp and Ap_sort_swap to access slots past the buffer and crash the process.
libsmb2 through 6.2 contains an integer underflow vulnerability in decode_acl that allows malicious SMB servers to trigger heap out-of-bounds reads via crafted security descriptors. Attackers controlling a server or intercepting unsigned sessions can send an AclSize below 8 in a QUERY_INFO reply, bypassing ACE bounds checks and crashing the client.
libsmb2 through 6.2 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in smb2_decode_file_fs_volume_info and smb2_decode_file_fs_attribute_info that allows malicious SMB servers to read past reply buffers. Attackers controlling a server or intercepting unsigned sessions can send crafted QUERY_INFO replies with missing or oversized name lengths to crash the client.
libsmb2 through 6.2 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in smb2_decode_file_all_info that allows malicious SMB servers to crash clients by sending an unchecked FileNameLength. Attackers controlling the server or performing man-in-the-middle on unsigned sessions can return crafted FileAllInformation replies to smb2_stat or smb2_fstat calls, crashing the client.
ELFIO through 3.12 contains a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in relocation_section_accessor get_entry() that allows attackers to crash applications via an unvalidated sh_link index. Attackers can supply a crafted ELF file whose SHT_REL or SHT_RELA section has a dangling sh_link, causing find_hash_section() to dereference null and deny service.
Sofia-SIP through 1.13.18 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in msg_multipart_parse() that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash the process by sending oversized MIME boundaries. Attackers can send an INVITE with a multipart Content-Type whose boundary exceeds the body length, causing memcmp to read past the heap buffer and crash the process.
libzvbi through 0.2.45 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Teletext decoder. Attackers can supply a crafted Teletext stream with DRCS_MODE_6_5_4 values, causing convert_drcs to overflow chars[48][60] and crash the application.
3proxy from 0.9.7 through 1.0.1, fixed in commit 206c923, contains an uninitialized stack memory disclosure vulnerability in the SOCKS4 reply path when the external-NAT option (-Ne) is configured. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger a reply containing uninitialized bytes from the sin structure, exposing high bytes of a userspace pointer and weakening ASLR protections.
Angular DevTools from 1.20.0 until 1.21.1 accepts chrome.runtime.sendMessage runtime messages from untrusted web pages or third-party content scripts without adequately verifying the message source. An attacker who obtains a valid randomized victim tabId can direct the extension to attach to another tab via chrome.debugger and trigger breakpoints, pausing JavaScript execution and preventing interaction with the target tab, without remote code execution or privilege escalation.
Zulip Server versions through 12.1 allow guest users to receive new message events for public channels outside their subscriptions. A guest can register an event queue requesting messages from an unsubscribed public channel, or an existing queue can remain affected after access is removed, disclosing new public-channel messages to the guest.
